![]() ![]() ![]() However, people do use SQL Server for data warehouse environments but the best use case is for very small databases. They are not open-source, so the integration with other platforms is not that easy." "I do not think SQL Server is suited for a typical database warehouse environment. "The solution could improve by having better integration." "The solution could improve by having more integration with other operating systems and other platforms." "The integration could be better. Additionally, the solution could be more user-friendly and improve the Transparent Data Encryption." "If Oracle Database could have more build-in features from some of their other products it would be good." "The licensing could be cheaper and clearer." "The primary concern is that Oracle is highly restricted in terms of the approved technologies where we can freely deploy Oracle Database or any other Oracle product." "The initial setup could be easier." "I can only remember that setting up Oracle Database was a pain because it uses Java." They have third-party vendors that can do it but if Oracle comes with its own virtual engine, it would be helpful. ![]() For example, it could be more user-friendly and should be easier to integrate into the cloud." "I have been looking for a virtualization database engine from Oracle. "Their migration strategies could be better because most of these companies keep the same version for six or seven years and then update it to the latest version." "There is a lot that can improve in Oracle Database. This is probably one of the most important asks for being successful in the future." There should be the simplification of management. That said, we are already seeing Linux more readily available on the mainframe environment." "They should simplify the management of Db2 as a relational database system. ![]() They also don't do a lot of marketing for it, which is also a problem." "I would like to see some artificial intelligence brought into the solution." "The solution could improve by providing more integration." "The pricing could be improved, it's expensive." "When I look at Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Server provides me with better tools for database management." "We just want a bit more integration with Linux. Db2 or IBM came a little later in the game, and that's where the problem lies. These companies have built the ecosystem and the brand within this market for a very long time. Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server have been in this market for a very long time. In Africa, the problem for Db2 is competition. It will also be helpful in terms of competition. It makes sense to have this functionality within Db2 instead of a different product. So, to have the replication ability, you have to buy a different product. IBM also has similar functionality, but it exists in a different product. Microsoft provides similar functionality in SQL Server. The replication feature needs to be there in Db2. Db2 is also more expensive than Microsoft SQL Server, and its price can be reduced. This is where I see room for advancement. I wish IBM would move towards making Db2 easy to use for both basic and advanced users. "Its process of building up queries could be more accessible." "Microsoft SQL Server is comparatively very simple to use. ![]()
